11 Samacheer Maths Solutions for 7.1.4

In the history of mathematics matrices and Determinants are one of the oldest concepts. It hasConcepts were developed in the 17th century. When mathematicians tried to solve a problem with multiple simultaneous linear equations there was a need for matrices and determinants. Some of the clay tablets created with the matrices from the Babylonians era are still preserved.

This can be applied in the normal life.In modern application the matrices are used to solve complex problems.Predictable model developments using matrices are included in the analytic problems.A lawyer and a mathematician came up with the word matrix in the 17th century. The concept of matrix had a powerful application in mathematics.

In terms of organizing cars in a parking area coconut trees in a farm land and storage of boxes in a storage area we can see matrices in common practise. The basis for the term determinants can be found in the form of the quadratic form.Gauss came up with this in the 17th century. The idea of determinants was expanded by another famous mathematician. We can use matrices to write the coefficients of equations.

In data is represented in excel spread sheet as matrices and it has wider application in almost all corporates and educational institutions.A lot of the dashboards developed for management decision making and operational analysis are in matrices format with rows and columns.A table with years in the columns and states in the rows can be used to show the population in different states for the past 10 years. There are rows and columns in the matrix of elements. We usually put a square brackets over the rows and columns to show that there is a matrix.

The size of the matrices is determined by the multiplication of A * B.The size of the matrices is 50 if the matrices have 10 rows and 5 columns. The matrices with a single row are called row matrices.Column matrices are matrices that only have a single column. The zero matrices are matrices where all elements are 0.

It's also called a void matrix or null matrix. The squares have the same number of row and column elements.A square matrix has a principal diagonal that is represented by elements that fall in the diagonal line. There are names for the diagonal. It is referred to as diagonal main diagonal or leading diagonal elements.

The unit matrix have values only in the diagonal and the rest of the elements are all zero. The elements have a value of 1.triangular matrix is a type of matrix that can be found in the square matrix. The triangular matrix is called if all elements in the bottom of the diagonal are zero.If all of the elements in the matrices are equal we can say that both are equal.

If any of the elements are not the same or not in the same order then they are called unequal matrices.Adding multiplication and subtracting are some of the operations that we can do.Only the division of two matrices can be done. There are certain things we need to be satisfied with before we perform the operations. If we have to multiplication all the elements of the matrices with a single element then we need to use the constant.

If both matrices have the same number of rows and columns we can add and subtract matrices.A+B of the elements of the matrices is indicated by the addition of matrix A with matrix B.A-B of the elements of the matrices is indicated by the subtraction of Matrix A with matrix B.If the number of rows and columns of one matrix is the same as the number of rows and columns in the other matrix we need to add or subtract it.If not we need to state in the result that it is not possible.
