11 Samacheer Kalvi Solutions for 12.5.1

The initial concept of Probability was created by two French mathematicians in the 16th century. Both of them have been credited with creating the basics of Probability. The concept was further extended by mathematician Laplace who in the 18th century created the Bayesian concept. It is not possible to predict many of the events that occur in the real world. We try to define the probability of the event occurring.

It is beneficial for students to understand Probability as it will be applied in their future career when they work for corporate or government agencies. It will be used to make business decisions in those organizations. It is always a good idea to make decisions based on the mathematical formula rather than chance. There are many unexpected outcomes in the world around us.For an event there could be many different types of outcomes.

In determining the most likely outcome the probability plays a part.An experiment is a process that can be defined if it is already known. An experiment is called a Deterministic Experiment if one can predict the outcome in advance.Random Experiment can also be called Non-Deterministic Experiment. We know what will happen in a random experiment but we can predict what will happen.

Sample space is the collection of all the possible outcomes if there are more than one possible outcome in a random event.A countable number of sample points and an uncountable number of sample points are the types of sample points that can be found. The number of sample points cannot be further separated into a subcategory. The countable number of sample points is either a finite number or an infinite number.First we have to know the definition of probability then we have to know about the following things.

The sample space is indicated by S.The possible outcome of the number of elements in the sample space is nothing. There is a sample space for Head Tail when a coin is thrown. The sample space is composed of 2 elements. When two coins are thrown at the same time the sample space is between HH and HH.

When 3 coins are tossed at the same time the sample space is HHH HHT HTH TTH TTT THH THH.The sample space contained 8 elements. Two coins are tossed the same way.We shouldn't get confused with it.When three coins are tossed it can be called one coin tossed three times.

                                                    When a die is thrown the sample space is very small.There is a number of samples.When two dies are thrown the sample space is 11 12 13 14 15 16 21 22 23 24 25 26 31 32 33 34 35 36 41 42 43 44 45 46 51 52 53.In the sample space there are six elements.To find the number of sample spaces in coins there is a formula.

The sample space size is 4 if we put the n as a number. If we put the n as 3 then the sample space size is 8 and if we put the n as 4 it's 16.The number of spaces in dies is determined by a formula. The sample space size is 6 if we put n and 2 together.sample space size is 36 if we put the n as 2.
